Like every kid I know, bubbles are a HUGE hit. Doesn’t matter if it’s winter or summer, if there are bubbles, he’s about it. For some reason, store bought bubble toys are CRAZY expensive. And they NEVER last long. Between our dogs getting to the wand or him spilling the solution, after about a week the bubble mania has come to an end. Here’s how we made simple homemade bubbles and a super cute handmade natural bubble wand!
We always love an activity that takes us outdoors, and this is another one!
You’ll need:
- a sturdy stick, about 6-8 inches more or less!
- Wire, we used spare welded wire from our garden fence build
- Pliers
- Dish soap
- Small container with lid
- Water
First, you’ll need to attached the wire to the stick.
Wrap the wire around one end, then bring it up into your shape, then back down and around.
Pinch it firmly around the end.
Viola! Wand done!
You could defiantly make a fun shape like a heart or triangle on the end but we just did a circle because our wire was VERY thick and a little difficult to bend.
Next, the bubble soap.
Super simple….
2 tablespoons of dish soap
5-6 tablespoons of water
Another plastic free alternative could be to dissolve about 1/16 of a bar of soap into the water. Simply cut a sliver off, about the size of a slice of cheese, and warm the water up. Don’t boil it, but just enough to dissolve the soap. Mix that all together and there you go!
Then dip your wand in your homemade bubbles and take it out for a whirl!
